Setting the Standard for Emergency Medical Response in the backcountry, and beyond…

Join Our Top Skilled Disaster Relief EMT’s and Paramedic’s

Who is “Timberline Medics”?

… More than just another private medical contract company…

We believe the current standard for medical support in disaster response isn’t where it should be—and we’re here to help change that.

We hire EMT’s and Paramedics we would trust with our own crews, our friends, and our families. That level of trust drives everything we do.

By investing in training, mentorship, and real-world readiness, we’re building a team that is prepared, confident, and capable in the environments that matter most.

Disasters aren’t slowing down—and neither are we.

To us, investing in our team means delivering real training, mentorship, and support—not just checking boxes.

An annual refresher is not enough to prepare providers for the realities of the field. There needs to be more.

Our medical staff are trained to confidently navigate, communicate, and coordinate in high-pressure environments when every second counts.

We focus on building a deep understanding of disaster environments so our teams can anticipate challenges, adapt quickly, and operate safely.

Above all, we expect our providers to be highly capable in prolonged patient care within austere, resource-limited conditions.

This is how we raise the standard…. And this is only the beginning!

Gone are the days where you finish your refresher training, grab a pack, hop in your truck and spend 2 weeks relaxing in the shade at your assigned incident.  We can do better!

Our goal is that you enjoy your work, while still being a high-functioning and an integrated asset to the entire response team.

Meet the owner, Heather!

From humble beginnings…

Heather is the owner and founder of Timberline Medics LLC. She brings a deep passion for emergency medicine and a commitment to raising the standard of care in various environments.

She began her career in Alaska, working as an EMT for a 911 fire department before earning her AAS of Paramedicine and AAS in Fire and Emergency Services from the University of Alaska Anchorage. It was there that she discovered not only a love for emergency medicine, but a strong pull toward the challenges and rewards of austere, backcountry care.

Over the years, Heather worked on numerous assignments across Alaska and the Lower 48. While the work was meaningful, she began to notice a consistent gap—many new EMT’s, and medics were motivated and eager to grow, but often lacked the preparation, support, and practical training needed to truly succeed in the field.

One assignment in particular became a turning point. Heather saw an inexperienced EMT placed alone in a remote area with minimal additional support near by. This resource was also given very little, if any guidance from their company prior to the assignment. Without being set up for success, this person was soon responsible for all medical care in the general area. Simply put- they were lost and overwhelmed.

This is unfortunately a common theme. It was made clear that something needed to change.

Since then, Heather has taken a very active role in mentoring and training fellow medical personnel—leading hands-on scenario drills and teaching practical field skills like: navigation, radio communication, medical pack organization, patient packaging, extrication, helicopter landing zones, and medical reporting. She has also supported camp-based trainings with her clinical experience —helping crews build confidence in real-world situations from prevention, to major trauma. Occasionally even bridging language gaps by teaching in Spanish.

After years of seeing inconsistency and lacking in training and standards across the industry, Heather decided to take action and build something better.

So she started Timberline Medics.

Her mission is simple: to raise the bar for medical care in austere medical response by creating a company that prioritizes its people, invests in meaningful training, and prepares all providers for the realities of the field.

Heather believes that when medics are supported, confident, and well-trained, it leads to stronger teams, better outcomes, and safer operations in unpredictable environments.

Through Timberline Medics, she is working hard to build a culture of professionalism, consistency, and teamwork—while continuing to support and strengthen the role of medical units on every incident.

If this mission resonates with you, you’re invited to be part of a small but dedicated team committed to doing things differently!

Cheers,
Heather B.
